October 2021

October started out with a field trip to Museum of Natural History with Jaron's class.  It's always fun to get to chaperone a field trip and I got to take around 7 boys!  It was a bit crazy as they all wanted to go in different directions but still fun to spend time with Jaron.

Last Halloween Siena decided we were going to save some seeds from our pumpkins and then plant them and grow our own pumpkins.  She researched it and did what it said.  In the spring, we planted them in little cups in our house and Shane and I thought there was no way these were really going to grow.  But they did, so we planted them in our yard.  We watered them all spring and summer and pretty soon we started growing a few pumpkins.  The kids were so excited and Shane and I were shocked.  We ended up getting 4 good sized pumpkins!

We had our primary program in October.  Bring primary president this time of year is pretty stressful.  We have 135 kids in our primary and there is no way we have time for all of them to speak. So some parents weren't too happy but overall I think the program turned out so great.  We had a few of the oldest kids give little experiences on receiving an answer to their prayers and the songs were great.  Many people said it was one of the best programs they had ever heard...maybe they were just being nice but I was happy it turned out so good.

October always means crazy hair day at school!

The last day before our fall break we used our Get Out Pass and went to an escape room.  Siena had been begging us to do this for a long time.  It ended up being really fun and kind of stressful but we did it and finally escaped.

We met The Pace's on the last day of our fall break at the Red Barn in Santaquin.  We had so much fun doing the slides, zipline, mazes, apple cannon and petting zoo.

The kids got free tickets to the Hale Centre Theatre last year from participating in the reflection's contest.  We finally used them to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice.  It was kind of short but cute and the kids had a good time.  I always think I need to take them to more plays and get them to appreciate theatre and musicals a little more...still time to do that.

Soccer seasons ended for both Jaron and the girls.  They all had good seasons.  The girls played hard as they didn't have a lot of extra girls on their team and often had to play the entire game without subbing or just subbing out once.

I realized right before Halloween that we never made it to Gardner Village to see the witches.  We couldn't break tradition so we went on Halloween.  It was such a nice day and not too crowded and it was fun to get our tradition in just in time.

Brother Pew in our ward invited the kids over to do a Covid Busters ride he had made in his garage.  It was so cool to see how he set up this in his garage, it was like Star Tours with a big screen and big box that moved up and down, back and forth like they were flying in space.  He programmed it to run and made it interactive with guns so the kids could shoot the covid balls they saw.

Siena and Aria made Chip and Ozzie Harry Potter costumes.  Just had to document it cuz it was pretty cute.

Our pumpkin carving night was fun as always and I always like to see what they come up with.  Jaron carved a soccer goal and then painted his white pumpkin into a soccer ball.  Aria carved an owl and Siena just carved a jack o latern but did the whole thing herself.

The school halloween parade is always fun and it was good to be back since we didn't get to go last year cuz of Covid.

The big change this year for Halloween is the kids wanted to go trick or treating by themselves.  Kind of sad but I was excited for them.  They went with Graham as well and trick or treated almost for 3 hours.  They had fun and they got so.much.candy!
