Jaron turns 12

Jaron had a great birthday until he didn't.  The day started great, he got his first cell phone that he was so excited for.  We then went miniature golfing and to his favorite pizza place, 2 Jack's Pizza.  Then it started going downhill when he didn't eat very much and I just thought he had a lot of snacks/treats.  Then he went to Mountain Bike practice and when he got home that night he said he wasn't feeling well.

He woke up with a fever and it would spike at night and then the next morning would be lower.  So I kept thinking he was getting better than each night it would spike again.  We took him to instacare over the weekend and it wasn't strep and they said everything else seemed fine and to wait it out.

His fever went down quite a bit so we still had his birthday party a few days later.  We went bowling and had pizza and all of Jaron's friends came.  It was a fun night for everyone sadly.

We took him to the dr. a couple days later and they said everything sounded fine and just to wait it out.  After 10 days of having a fever Shane finally took him to Primary's ER cuz the doctor didn't know what else to do and they could do testing earlier.  It ended up Jaron had pneumonia!  He got on some anti-biotics and that seemed to help but not all the way.  So we took him in again, he got another round of anti-biotics and that did the trick until the last day of the medicine made him sick to his stomach during the first day of cross country (which he ended up not doing anyways.)

So it was quite the ordeal for over 2 weeks including the last 2 weeks of summer vacation, his birthday and into the first week of school.

Jaron is such a good kid.  He loves being active and he has loved learning mountain bike these last few months.  He still loves soccer and he loves his video games.  He is always first to compromise and is a good helper around the house.  He has started sleeping in later and later and is turning into a teenager I can tell.

July 2025

A big part of our summer was watching Ryan Trahan do 50 states in 50 days on YouTube.  He also has some candy out called JoyRide so the kids were so excited when we stopped at 7-11 and got some one day.

Jaron had a practice race in Herriman one evening.  It was fun to see what a race is going to be like but it was only Jaron's jr. high team there.  We're excited for the real races to start.

Jaron's new soccer team, Lehi Fury had their first tournament and it was the Surf Tournament we do every year since he was on Surf.  Unfortunately, we got placed in the wrong bracket and it was a blowout tournament.  This was on 7/11 so we stopped for Slurpees after the game.  Beckham from his team last year is also on this team as well.

We went to an RSL soccer game which is always fun since we get free tickets since the kids all participate in UYSA soccer leagues.

Jennifer, Brigitte and I went to Barry Manilow - One Last Time.  We were nervous he wasn't going to sound very good since he's getting up there in age but seriously he still sounded so good and I still love his music.

The Arnett's our neighbors invited us on their boat one Saturday afternoon.  We had a fun time with them and being out on the lake.

Siena has gotten into decorating baked goods lately. This was her cake she made one day with Jaron and Aria's help.

For my mom's birthday a bunch of us all got tickets to see Phantom of the Opera youth version at the new Ruth theatre in Pleasant Grove.  It was so good and the youth were all so talented.

We watched an outdoor movie one night on our balcony which was kind of something fun and different to do.  We watched Now you See Me.

Lake Powell Trip

We took our family summer trip this year to Lake Powell.  Since we don't own a boat we had never been as a family.  I have been once a long time ago and I think Shane had been a time or 2.  We had such a fun time.  We stayed in Page Arizona and had such good weather. I thought it might be miserably hot but it wasn't.  On the drive down we stopped at Bryce Canyon and did one hike.  It's all downhill at first and then all uphill on the way back so the end was hard but it was such a pretty hike.

The first full day there we rented a boat and went to the lake.  This was such a fun day teaching the kids to wakeboard.  I even tried and got up for a short time.  I had never tried before and had only ever skied.  They loved tubing though the most.  We brought lunch and just hung out on the boat the whole day.

The next day we drove two hours to the Grand Canyon.  None of us had never been to the South Rim before and it was such a great day.  Saw lots of overlooks, took a long walk along the rim and couldn't have asked for better weather in the 80's.

After the Grand Canyon Aria convinced me to take her to the small town Rodeo.  It was fun until it got windy and so cold after a rain storm had come through.  And they had sooo many entries in each category. But I'm glad Aria got to spend some time watching what she loves!

The last day we were there was the actual 4th of July.  We went to the Page Parade where most floats were made from ski boats.  We went to their carnival for a bit, got some ice cream.  We also went and saw Glen Canyon Dam and then that evening we went to their fireworks show.  A pretty chill day but fun to just spend the 4th doing something a little different and seeing how others spend the 4th.

One evening we also went the Horse Shoe Bend Overlook and that was so cool to see.  I had always wanted to see it so was glad we got to.
