Last weekend before the baby arrives

The weekend before the baby arrived, we had quite the weekend.

Thursday was my last day of work before the baby comes.  Brigitte was so nice and brought me some balloons and candy to celebrate with me.  So thoughtful and very nice of her.  The girls are in LOVE with the balloons and still carry them around.  2 ended up on the ceiling and crazy enough one is still up there and hasn't lost it's helium yet.

Friday morning all my sisters, sister in law, and mom met and got pedicures.  It was my mom's birthday so that was a good excuse and really I just needed one before I had this baby.

We took one last picture of all the pregnant girls in order of due date but from right to left this time.  Lori and I decided to paint our toes blue for our boys that are coming.  Whitney went pink, which I don't blame her, pink is cuter even if she is having a boy.

Saturday we wanted to make sure to spend as much time as we could with the girls.  We went to the park in the morning before it got too hot and then I bravely took them both to the store with me.  9 months pregnant with twins can have it's challenges if either of them get out of hand, let alone both of them.  But they did great.  Then after their naps we went to the aquarium and out to dinner.  Knowing how much is going to change for them it was fun to really focus on them for a day and not worry about cleaning the house, running, errands, etc.

Sunday night we went to my parents to celebrate my mom and cute Lilly's birthdays.  Lilly turned one the day after Jaron was born.  We took one last picture as a family of 4.  The girls love playing over at my parents house with all their toys and we had a really nice evening.  Of course I then still had to go home and pack and get everything ready to go for the next morning but it was a fun weekend.

Summer Fun Part 2

Just a few activities I wanted to document on some things we've been doing this summer.

About a month ago we went up to Silver Lake.  People always say that they see moose up there in the summer but I never had before.  Well as we rounded the first corner we came across a moose.  And it wasn't that far off the path.  Not the biggest moose, but fun to see.  It was just eating away and was so fun to see.  The girls kept calling it a horse and thought it was very exciting.  It was hard to contain them and get them to pass by it.  After that our like walk went down hill.  Siena didn't want in the stroller and didn't want to walk, she only wanted to be held and only by me.  We tried and tried to convince her otherwise but in the end to hold the peace for everyone else I carried her half way around the lake.  Hmm, I wonder why Monday morning I started having contractions for a few hours.

We love this little lake that we found right here in Draper that we can go feed the ducks.  The girls loved feeding the ducks this time and really got a kick out of watching them eat their bread they would throw them.  Good news is they threw more bread then they ate themselves this time.  Aria has no fear and when these geese got out, she marched right up towards them.  I was kind of nervous but she never actually caught them.

My friend Stacy go married this weekend.  It was a hot but such a pretty day.  She looked gorgeous in her dress and it was a fun day to be a part of.  Congrats Stacy and Alan!  I'm so hugely pregnant but grateful I even made it to the wedding and that this baby stayed put for me.

This is what I try to do some days when the girls are playing...just lay down and watch them play.  It NEVER works.  As soon as I lay down they always want to come 'join' me and this is how it turns out.

The girls have started hugging each other.  It's so cute.  They give each other kisses and say night night to each other but never just spontaneously hugged like this.  Melt my heart.

Ok kind of a random post but just pictures and things I didn't want to forget to document.

Draper Days 2013

Going to Draper Days has always been a tradition for me ever since I moved to Draper.  I love sitting on the grass, listening to music, people watching and then of course the fireworks at the end.  This year I knew I would be very pregnant and have 2 almost 2 year olds that go to bed at 8pm each night.  So I debated and debated about whether or not we would go.  We really didn't decide until the day before but I just couldn't bring myself not to go.  So we went and decided we would stay until the girls started breaking down.

That morning we took the girls down to walk around.  It was so hot and luckily they aren't quite old enough to really want to go on the rides and bounce houses.  We did take them on their first pony ride.  They love horses and so were pretty excited just to see the ponies.  Shane put Aria on it and she went right on.  Siena was a little nervous so we let Aria go around once and then put her right behind Aria and after a couple of laps, they were in heaven, smiling ear to ear, pointing to the horse.  They did really well and held on and ended up loving the ride.  We also went in all the tents that had snakes, lizards, etc. and they even got to pet a huge turtle walking around.

That afternoon Shane took our car down and parked it fairly close to the park and then jogged home (it was only 102 degrees that day!)  Then after dinner we strolled the girls down to the park and had a great evening hanging out on the grass.  Jennifer and her kids joined us as well so it was a fun night.  The girls did great and although they started getting a little irritable about 30 mins before the fireworks started we got out our phones that entertained them long enough to stay awake the whole time. They liked the fireworks but I think were pretty tired by then.  I enjoyed the fireworks since I didn't see any on the 4th of July.

The next day I was sooo tired and my body was exhausted.  I guess walking a mile in the heat and sitting on grass entertaining 2 little girls when 8 1/2 months pregnant isn't something the body takes all that well.  We all took a really long nap that afternoon after church and we're as good as new again and back on schedule.

Pregnancy Update - 38 1/2 Weeks

We're getting close...my due date is approaching fast.  I've gotten a lot done but still have some things to do.

I'm feeling uncomfortable but since I can see the end in sight I'm managing just fine.  The girls are getting more frustrated that I can't hold them and walk around the house, that it's totally uncomfortable to sit on my lap and that their mom has a lot less patience then she used to.  They're ready for me to be back to normal and I'm ready to get my body back.  Nevertheless we are so excited to meet this little guy.  I can't wait to see what he will look like, how big he'll be and how the girls will react to the whole situation.

Work is winding down.  I still have a long to do list to get done and each day is super busy but I'm looking forward to being off and enjoying time at home.

The nursery is done.  We decided to keep the girls in separate rooms and so this baby will be in his own room at the end of the hall in my office/storage room.  It's taken time to get it all cleaned up but we're finally there.

The letters of his name are painted and decorated and ready to hang.  Stay tuned for the name....

We got out the girl's infant car seats to clean up and get one ready for him.  The girls decided to try them out.  They look so huge in those.  Sorry for the lack of clothes, we had just come inside from playing in their water table and were soaked and about to go get in their pajamas.

We also turned the girls forward facing in their car seats this week since they will be moved to the back of the van and it's going to be hard enough to get back there and buckle them in and I wasn't going to do it with them facing backwards.  It's only 6 weeks early so I felt ok with that.  They loved facing forward and were even more excited when we turned on a little video for them.

Things left to do...get my blog totally updated (we're close), get my toes painted (appointment has been made) and pack my hospital bag (list is made).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a really active little baby.  He is crazy moving all around all the time.  Right now as I type this I can see my stomach moving on both ends.  He likes to push his heel straight up into my stomach and I can see this very visible point sticking out of my shirt when he does that.  Last night I woke up to what I swear was him doing jumping jacks at 4am.  He was kicking both sides up and down.  I rolled over hoping that would settle him down but it still took another 10 mins of him doing that before he stopped.  Crazy little boy.

So that's the latest on this pregnancy.

The Brian's Visit

Christy and her family came up the 2nd of week of July.  It was so fun having them and we stayed so busy with all the activities everyone had planned.

Monday night we all went up American Fork Canyon for dinner and smores.  It was a little scary with 18 grandchildren since we set up right by the river but everyone was safe.  The girls loved running around and eating whatever they wanted without me wanting to wipe their hands and clean up every few minutes.

We had dinners over at my parents almost every night.  We had a girls night out (which Jeff crashed) and went to dinner and a movie.  We had a birthday party for JD and Max at the park one morning with doughnuts and fruit and went to the Draper pool one afternoon.  At the pool the girls were a little timid but warmed up ok and loved walking around in the shallow end.  I plan to take them to the pool a lot more next summer when I'm not so uncomfortable and pregnant.  I had a little scare with Aria who kept walking around me in circles and when she went behind me she reached to splash the water and lost her footing.  She fell over and froze floating face down in the water.  Luckily Jennifer was right there and saw it so she was in the water for all of 5 seconds but seeing her frozen like that kind of freaked me out.  She was fine and stayed in the water so I was glad about that.

Christy was determined to get my girls to like her.  In St. George in May they were so clingy to me that they wouldn't give her the time of day.  Now that they're a little past that stage that was her goal.  It took a while but by the end of the week they ran to her and gave her a hug and blew her kisses when she went to leave.  Christy was very happy to say the least.  Now Christy just needs to come up more often so they don't forget!

Home Project

We've lived in our house for 5 years this month and have never really done much with the inside of it since living here.  We've always focused on our yard or thought the way the house is, is fine.  But there is one wall we never really knew what to do with.  When the people who built the house did their plans, we aren't sure what they were thinking with this wall.  We priced putting built in bookcases in but didn't ever come to an agreement what to do.  Then the wiring was all weird with some outlets and cables on top and other stuff on the bottom of the wall.

So Shane finally decided to do something about it.  We always wanted to mount our TV and lately the girls have been grabbing it and trying to shake it, making me nervous.  So seeing as I'm 8 months pregnant, I can't say I helped much except for keeping the girls away from it while it was in progress.

Shane cut some holes in the walls and ran all the wiring to the right place.  He then patched the wall, painted it and mounted our TV.  I love the color that we chose.  At first it was so shocking because it's very different and darker then I thought it would be but now I love it.  It gives some depth to that area and is a fun little change then the same color we have throughout the house.

Here's some pictures.  Don't mind the mess, I guess I should've picked up before I took the pictures.

Picture taking with Twins

This is the perfect example of trying to take a cute picture of both girls at the same time.

You can follow the sequence of events perfectly:

They see me pull out my phone to take a picture and they both turn away.
Then Shane turns around and Siena turns her head.
Then they think it's funny and both are shaking their head back and forth.
Then I call Siena's name and right as she looks I snap a picture.
Then I call Aria's name hoping Siena will keep looking, Aria looks, Siena turns away.
Finally I get them both to look, but they will not smile for me.

ahh, the joys of taking pictures at this age!

Summer Fun

Despite the super hot weather we’ve been having lately (which is about to be the death of me at 8 ½ months pregnant!) we’ve been having a great summer.

Cousin Abbey decided she had out grown her play kitchen and gave it to the girls. The girls were in Heaven to say the least. They still love it and spend lots of time putting things in the stove, microwave, etc. and pretending to cook. And for the most part they play pretty well together. A lot of toys they fight over or isn’t really a 2 person toy but this has been great.

They've learned to swing on the 'big girl' swings and are so proud of themselves.  I LOVE when I get a picture of them both smiling at the same time.  Doesn't happen very often.

We bought a water table. One reason was seeing how much fun they had at my parents playing with theirs. The other was purely selfish. It’s self entertaining. They love their swing set but I got sick of standing in the sun pushing them on swings. This way I can put up our shade screen and sit on a chair while they play. Win win I say! They’ve really enjoyed it and we’ve now learned to either just take their clothes off or put them in their swim suits.

The grocery store I usually go to doesn’t have these fun little carts, so when we went to a different store the other night and I put them in this, you would’ve thought they were at Disneyland. They ‘steered’ the car, honked the horn and had a permanent smile on their face the entire time. Maybe I need to change where I shop!

Our 4th of July was lots of fun. We went to a neighborhood breakfast and then after naps went to my parents for a BBQ. We opted out of Fireworks this year because we’ve been having to re-train the girls to fall asleep on their own and stay asleep. So we’re sticking to a strict schedule for the next little while. Instead we put them to bed and painted an accent wall in our family room. Pictures and details coming when it’s finished and put back together.

See how hard and rare it is to get both of them to smile in the same picture.  I have to post them both.
