February 2023

Basketball ended for all 3 kids on 3 different teams.  It was A LOT! Remember how nice it was when they were all on one team?   They all had fun and learned a lot.  Jaron played with all his neighborhood friends.  Aria played with a few people she knew but was proud of her for still playing without Siena and it's not her favorite sport anyways (soccer is)  And Siena finished her first Bantam team.  She learned a lot but had a hard team where girls weren't very committed and wouldn't show up for games or practices.  Her coach was great and super nice and positive but had a hard time communicating and keeping up with schedules.  I think we're all ready for the break from Basketball practices and games.

The annual Valentine boxes, they turned out cute and more and more they can do these things on their own now.  Siena is going to be mad when she reads what I'm about to write but she'll be grateful one day that it's been recorded.  Siena got asked by a boy in her class if she would be his Valentine.  It was a bit awkward because the boy was nice but she definitely didn't really want to have a Valentine but didn't want to tell him no either so she said yes.  It all had to be secret because they aren't allowed to have Valentine's at school.  So she passed him a note saying yes and on Valentine's gave him a little present of Candy she snuck in his backpack.  Then he didn't give her anything on Valentine's so we thought it was weird but come to find out he had left it at home so he gave it to her the next day.  The first and probably many awkward moments with boys.

We bought a new van.  We looked at a lot of other types of cars but felt like we still needed the space a van offers and for the price range we were looking at.  We bought a used rental car, White Chrysler Voyager.  It's so much smoother and has some nice features (Carplay) that our other van didn't have.  The kids name the Van George because we literally bought it and left for our trip to St. George that same day.  It was a bit of a crazy day trying to get out of town but we're happy with our purchase.

We went to St. George over President's Day weekend for the Rage Soccer Cup with Jaron's team.  We got a condo which was fun because it had a swimming pool, pool table, pickleball courts and lots of other fun things to do.  Friday Jaron had a game and they won.  Saturday he had 2 games but when we woke up to go to his early game, Jaron ran to the bathroom and threw up.  So he ended up missing those 2 games.  We were so sad and Jaron felt pretty bad all day just laying around.  Shane took the girls hiking to get them out of the condo for a while but it was a pretty low key day.

Sunday Jaron was feeling better but we decided to take it easy and went to Zions and drove around, went on a little walk but it was so crowded that we couldn't even get up the main road of Zion because they closed it off due to all the parking lots being full.

Luckily on Saturday Jaron's team tied one game and won the other so we went to championship game on Monday.  It was such a stressful game, his coach Dallin got a yellow card, everyone was yelling and cheering.  Jaron ended up scoring 2 goals of the 4 his team scored that day (one in overtime).  It went to overtime and our team won 4-3.  Such a fun way to end the weekend after missing 2 of the games.

This winter has been endless snow.  It has snowed so much and the kids love it.  I'm ready for some sunshine.  One day they had a snow day and the kids with some neighbor friends built this long snow tunnel through the snow.  It was pretty cool and a lot longer than it even looks.  The kids have also been able to go skiing quite a bit with their ski passes.

All 3 of the kids are in Knowledge bowl this year.  The subject is history and it's been a hard subject.  They had a mock competition at the end of February and Jaron's 3/4 grade team won the competition.  Jaron is doing Knowledge Bowl at Ridgeline this year since we were told Westfield wouldn't be doing it, even though later we found out they did.
