You all know about our Goold Family Football and Basketball trophies by now...I've blogged about them several times. Well...the trophy has come home to our house again! That't right Shane won the trophy this year. That means since we've been engaged in 2008 we have had the trophy in our house 3 out of the 4 years! We are dominating the football trophy. Matthew had it this last year and presented it to Shane at our football trophy presentation. Jennifer came in 2nd and I didn't do so bad myself and came in 3rd. Shane prepared a whole video presentation as his acceptance speech which everyone loved.. Congrats Shane! The trophy feels right back at home again! Our goal now is to win the basketball trophy in March so we have both trophies at the same time!

January Downer
I just wanted to blog about a few happenings this month. This is kind of a downer post cuz all the things I have to blog about aren't that happy kind of posts I usually like to post about. You've got to remember the good with the bad right?
1 - I got released from Laurels this month. I was kind of shocked because they had just re-organized the whole Young Women's organization and had left me in and told me they felt really good about leaving me in. I guess it changed. I knew the week before I got released. So at our Tuesday activity we took a class picture and I told them it was for our YW blog. I was glad to get a good class picture and I'm certainly going to miss the girls. The first 2 weeks after being released were good, but now it feels like it's been soo long since I've seen and talked to them. I'll miss getting to know what's going on in their lives. Shane and I got called to teach the Primary 10 year olds. It's actually a fun class and I do enjoy being in primary again.
2 - I never blogged about this but didn't want to forget about it. Shane's grandma passed away the day after Christmas. We weren't able to make her graveside service as we were already on our trip to California and we all knew she wouldn't have wanted to change our plans and be an inconvenience. So we honored her wishes and stayed on our trip. She was 93 and had certainly lived an amazing life. She had recently moved to Idaho to live with one of her daughters but had lived here in Utah for the past 2 1/2 years. It was so fun to get to know her and visit with her. She was always so active doing her own laundry, cleaning, etc. and had the sharpest mind of any 93 year old I've known. We'll miss her but know she's happy to be reunited with her husband again.
3 - After seeing my parents over Christmas, we were on our way back to Utah when we got a call from my mom that she had taken my dad to the ER for chest pains...scary! They ran some tests, kept him in the hospital for a few days and everything seemed to look fine...but he was still having chest pains. So a week later he went back for an angiogram procedure where they found major blockage and they put a stent in. He's been doing great since then and no more chest pains. He's been keeping us up to date of all the healthy food he's eating now. We're glad the doctors were able to figure out what was wrong before it turned into a heart attack or worse. He's back full time in the office and is doing great.
4 - Do you remember my post where I said how excited I was that something had happened to me that I had always wanted to and it never had? Well I know you've all been anxiously awaiting what happened to me in January that I couldn't blog about. The answer.....I was summoned to Jury Duty!!! I know most of you are like 'why in the world are you excited about that?' It's just something I've always wanted to experience and find so fascinating. I think I missed my calling in life in not going into some type of law career. I used to come home from school and eat my after school snack and watch Judge Wapner or People's Court and loved it, so it's no wonder I still find it fascinating.
So I was summoned to circuit court jury duty for one day. It was quite interesting and I was totally intrigued by the whole process. I didn't get picked though to be on the jury...darn it! They only picked 4 jury members and they picked 3 guys and 1 lady. It was a domestic violence case. His wife (maybe ex-wife now, daughter and son were all going to testify against him.) I almost stayed just to watch the case but in the end left and decided to go back to work cuz I had a lot going on that day.
So that's my January update. I promise I have a more positive blog entry coming in a couple days. Just waiting for a picture I need to take first.
