July 2016

Now that Jaron can ride a bike and brake properly, we went on our first official family bike ride.  We rode to our neighborhood park and back.  I was a little nervous cuz part of the way there are no sidewalks so we had to ride single file along a fairly busy neighborhood street.  All the kids did great though.  It was fun and cute to watch them peddle along.

We had our annual 4th of July neighborhood breakfast and bike parade. The kids were so excited once again to decorate their bikes.  This year they were thrilled we got pinwheels to attach to their bikes and flags for their helmets.  They loved watching the pinwheels spin around.
We went to my parents for lunch and then headed over to Sandy city to watch our usual fireworks and enjoy some music.  These 3 activities have kind of become our 4th of July tradition but it's always a fun day topped off with great fireworks.  Sandy city does a great fireworks show.

We went to an Owlz baseball game.  Jaron has been so into hitting a ball with a bat and loves to play catch that we wanted him and the girls to see what a real baseball game looks like.  It was also Heros vs. Villains night so it was a fun night to go.  Of course the girls made me text the picture of them with the Heros and Villains to Mason, their preschool friend that loves all the superheros.

All 3 kids took swim lessons this year.  Jaron was soo excited to take lessons.  He took lessons with cousin Lilly.  I was happy Aria didn't cry once and all 3 made good progress.  All 3 kids also jumped off their waterfall.  The instructors were cracking up that little Jaron just stands up there and jumps off.  I was most surprised Aria did it.  I wish I took them to a pool more often to practice cuz I think both girls would progress so much more.

For some random reason I've never taken my kids to 7-11 for slurpees.  So on 7/11 for once I remembered their free give away and we took a trip to 7-11.  They loved their slurpees and now I get to hear 'Mom there's a 7-11' whenever we pass one...which apparently there are more than I ever realized.

We have not been immuned to the Pokemon Go game this month.  All 3 kids love playing it but Siena especially loves playing.  We go to the library or park where there are a lot of pokestops and wander around catching pokemons and pokestops.  It's also been good cuz I've been using it as a motivator and/or discipline strategy as to when they can and can't play.  I always love having a new little trick up my sleeve.

We went and saw A Secret Life of Pets with a bunch of our cousins one day this month.  Both girls but especially Aria loved the movie.  And then they found out 'Old McDonalds' was giving out Secret life of Pets animals in their happy meals.  So we took them once and they each got one. Well then Grandma Glover came into town and they went to work on her and I'm not kidding when I say I think we have over 20 Secret Life of Pets stuffed animals in our house right now.  They do love playing with them so that's good.  It's a good thing Grandma Glover loves McDonald's cuz I can only take it every so often.  Here's a small sampling of them, and we have way more than this.

The Draper library always has some fun programs and activities going on.  I saw that they were having a stuffed animal sleepover so I signed my girls up.  We had to drop off their stuffed animal bear one night after dinner.  Then the next morning we came back to pick them up. They had little snacks for everyone and told them what crazy animals they were.  When the librarians came in that morning they found the stuffed animals all over the library.  So they took a picture of where they found the animals and put the picture in a frame for each kid.  It was so cute.  Siena and Aria were cracking up at all the places they found the animals.  It was cute to watch how excited they got.  Then they got to decorate their frames and take them home.  As we left we went and found the place they had been hiding so we could get a picture with them.  It was such a fun cute activity.

We also went to the 24th of July Float preview.  It's always fun to see the floats up close.  And then I don't feel guilty not taking them to the parade downtown later that week.  Win win for me!

That just about sums up our month.  And a few more separate posts are coming for Draper Days and Jaron's birthday!
