We signed the girls up for a free ski lesson day up at The Canyons resort. We had to sign them up in October and I wasn't sure if they would really want to go. When we told them they were so excited. Siena was most excited they had to wake up early and they got to set their alarm to wake up! The day they went the high was 27 degrees. I was so worried they would be cold and miserable, so I bundled them way up and bought them new very warm socks. The ski school takes them from 9-3, feeds them lunch, and gave them free rentals. Shane took them and then later snuck up the lift and found out where they were to get some good pictures and videos. They did so good and had a blast. They were going up and down this little hill and I was surprised how good they did after just a few hours. When they got home I asked them if they were cold and they told me they were so hot they were sweating. Good, I would rather them hot than cold! Now they keep asking if we can buy them skis so they can ski down our backyard. I hope we can take them again soon so they can keep practicing.
Jaron and I got to hang out at home all day while they were skiing and I took him to go see Ferdinand with Michelle, Lilly and Collin. It was a cute movie and Jaron is so funny lately. He gets so nervous and scared when someone is not making a good choice and had to come sit on my lap and cover his eyes. When I asked him why he was scared he said 'I don't think this is a good idea of what he's doing'
For Australia Day we decided to celebrate by teaching our kids to do Tim Tam Slams for the first time. It was pretty funny watching them try to suck hot chocolate through a cookie and we made quite the mess but was a fun tradition to introduce our kids to.
We participated in the KUED read-a-thon a couple months back and as a prize we got free kids passes to a bunch of places for the month of January. One was free tickets to see a show at the Clark planetarium. My kids have been asking a lot about space so it was the perfect time to go. They loved walking around all the exhibits. They were so intrigued watching the Pendulum and it was fun to see a show in the dome. Very fun afternoon.
We also had free passes to the Dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving point. Even though Jaron and I had been there a few times, the girls hadn't been there since they were 2 years old. We had a good time going through the museum, playing in the sand and digging for bones.
We've had such a warm winter. Most days my kids go out and play hide n seek, tag, and jump on tramplines with the neighborhood kids. I've loved not having them cooped up all winter long. For Martin Luther King holiday I took the kids to the park in Bluffdale. They have a fun zipline and fun equipment to play and climb on.
