A piece of much-needed good news...

Today was Sheri's post-op appointment with the surgeon, Dr. Erica Lloyd. http://www.healthgrades.com/directory_search/physician/profiles/dr-md-reports/Dr-Erika-Lloyd-MD-6998DB76.cfm

The results found that the type of Lymphoma that Sheri has is 'Hodgkin.' We are so happy for this news, as we know it is the lesser-evil of the two Lymphoma Evils! And, it is one of the most curable forms of cancer!! http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/all_page?item_id=7085 (Scroll down until you see the header: Hodgkin Lymphoma)

Sheri will start meeting with Oncologists tomorrow and will then learn more about her treatment plan.

Oh, more good news. Sheri got to remove the HUGE bandage from her neck this afternoon. I think surgeons get a little crazy when they start bandaging -- it makes you think the incision must be the size of Texas. Turns out the incision is MUCH SMALLER than Texas! Whew!!

Just a little (or big) side note: Props to Dr. Lloyd. She has been PHENOMENAL (to use an Aaron Jenne word) with Sheri! She has given much-needed personal attention and professionalism during this incredibly emotional time.

#1 on the To Do List for today: Practice saying "Thank you for the gift!" as the Bridal Shower is still on.

It's so weird to be happy that she has Hodgkin's! I like how you put it- the lesser of the 2 evils :) This whole cancer thing is going to be such a hard trial to go through, but at least the prognosis is good. We'll take a little good news since she's only heard bad news for the last week.

Seriously, it is weird that I am excited about this, but I am. Lymphoma in general has a good prognosis but this is better. It is just getting her to the end of it. By the way, why am I wording my comments to Brigitte instead of Sheri? I guess since Brigitte is doing the updates for now then I will have my comments be to her!

I am SO thankful that it's the lesser of the two evils, and I echo all of the other comments about it feeling strange to be excited, but I am! I had a good friend of mine who also went through this last year, the same type, and everything, and I JUST saw him like last weekend with his family, he'd beaten it! So I'm entirely upbeat!

Sheri-
It was so good to hear from you today, even if your news wasn't as fun as the last time we talked! I am praying for a fast and easy recovery! I will check your blog often to keep updated with your prognosis. Enjoy your wedding planning!- Alisa

Hi Sheri, this is Karen, Alisa's sister. I just saw a link to your blog from hers. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that just yesterday my great friend found out that she is cancer free after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She was 20 weeks pregnant at the time and delivered a healthy baby 5 months later while receiving chemo. She lives in Provo, so if you ever need any help or advice, I'd be happy to get you in touch with her. Good luck, and congrats on the up coming wedding!!!

Sheri, the Scott and Cheryl Taylor family have been thinking of you and praying for you...this cancer thing is far too common for our liking. We appreciate your positive attitude! We found out recently that Cheryl's sister, Susan, has some form of cancer, they discovered it near her pancreas and were just grateful it was not on the pancreas (that form is 95% terminal) We do not know yet what form she is dealing with, but she too has an upbeat attitude that will help carry her through her treatment plan when they get that far. Best wishes on the wedding...YEAH! and on getting the treatment to get you well!
